Brexit: Has UK caved in on fishing?!

I woke up this morning to news that the UK has caved in on fishing rights, but have we?

So, Twitter was afire last night with rumours circulating that the UK had agreed on a fishing deal. A deal that would see the EU fishing community having a five to seven year crack at further de-stocking our waters.

And the rumour mill had it that the next was for the UK to crack on the level playing field.

However, the UK government came out fighting and said no such agreement had been reached.

And the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg Tweeted out a couple of hours ago:

"UK govt repeats message this morning there has been no progress on fish, accuses EU side of making it up last night, suggesting perhaps EU was on verge of agreeing something with itself."

And the Express is reporting that Michel Barnier is not at all upbeat about the chances of a deal.

"Mr Barnier is reported as rubbishing reports put out last night that there had been a breakthrough in the wrangling over access to Britain's coastal water.

"He was said to have claimed the claim was a "myth".

"Downing Street also rejected the idea a breakthrough had been made."

Said the report.

But that 'myth' came from somewhere, didn't it?

And in a high stakes game like this, where the EU is desperate to retain control over the UK, you have to ask yourself where did that myth come from and why?

And some people will believe it to be true and that both sides are covering until they work out how to sugar coat it.

But at this stage, any stepping back that Boris Johnson does will be seen as capitulation - there could never be enough sugar to coat it - and he knows that!
