BREXIT CHAOS - Minister warns Brussels that UK will walk away: Only a deal if we get back control !

The pressure is mounting after a frantic 24 hours of talks between the EU's envoy Michel Barnier and his British counterpart David Frost failed to secure a breakthrough on the three critical sticking points - fishing rights, level playing field provisions and enforcement.

Mr Barnier briefed EU ambassadors from the bloc early this morning, but sounded a grimly negative tone and suggested Wednesday is the absolute deadline for thrashing out a workable package. Lord Frost merely said he was 'working very hard' as he arrived for the latest discussions in Brussels.

Rumours of a new compromise on fishing have been flatly dismissed by the UK, and although Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron are said to have weakened demands on level playing field rules as a 'final offer', the standoff remains.
The EU mood was described as "gloomy" as chief negotiator Michel Barnier met UK counterpart Lord Frost.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will speak to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at 16:00 GMT.
If no deal is done and ratified by 31 December, the UK and EU could introduce import charges on each other's goods.

In the House of Commons, Cabinet Office Minister Penny Mordaunt has updated MPs. She warned that the United Kingdom will only sign a trade deal if it gets back control of laws, trade and fishing waters. If not, the United Kingdom is ready for an "Australian style trade agreement".
