Taught correctly Pixhawk flight controllers allow the beginner to get in the air flying and having fun fast without putting any limitation on what can be achieved over time. It's actually pretty easy to build a drone but rather like much of academia there are many people in this space making things overly complicated. At the start most people what to just get flying!
