Glow plug engine now runs!
So as you can see my engine is running, my initial observations are:
You'll need gloves and some way of cleaning your hands in the field, these things can be a little messy, it won't mix well with electronics and spotlessly clean things, radio transmitters etc.
It's pretty noisy but not as bad as i thought
It does not come set up or ready to run, this is not plug an play, the engine needs to be run in and that alone is not so straightforward
There's a lot of vibration, this could well be an issue, we'll see
Everything in the prop wash will get covered in fine oil and airborne dust will stick to that
After 10 mins my basement (featured) was full of think blue smoke, you need to run these outside or in a very well ventilated area, I've named my little engine Greta now anyway, seemed appropriate
Anyway my initial opinion is this has loads of potential, can't wait to fly it
I've bought this glow plug engine to try and maximize the range of my 4G pixhawk guided long range uav, i'll be posting more in the coming days with some test running and thrust tests. Hopefully i'm getting close now to my original goal of making a long rage uav, we'll see, it was a lot harder than i originally envisaged but i'm getting there, slowly :)
I can help you with Pixhawk, Mission Planner, QGroundcontrol, Telemetry radios, 4G, FPV, long range, Raspberry Pi companion computers and much more. Even if I don't have the answer immediately for you I can get you the answer in a few hours.
If you have simple questions please post them in the comments below, if you have more complex questions please contact me directly on Telegram @Aeronaught or email - aeronaughty@protonmail.com
I try and help everyone anyway with answers on comments, email and Telegram but if you pay a small donation I'll give you priority and more in depth support on Linux, Pixhawk, Mission Planner, QGroundControl, Raspberry Pi, electronics and much more.
