Hey screen printers, it’s Nate from Ryonet LA . I’m here today at Ryonet headquarters in Vancouver, Washington to demonstrate how to properly clean and maintain the pallet arms of your ROQ automated screen printing press. Since this is a topic that we get a lot of questions about, you’re going to want to pay attention if you’re a ROQ owner or someone considering a ROQ press. If your pallet arms and locking assembly are not regularly cleaned, lint and adhesive can build up and prevent you from properly securing your pallets. This can effect your registration, as the substrate may shift during printing. This Build up is typically caused by adhesive overspray and can be minimized by good practices on press. This simple maintenance item can save you time and money by ensuring your press keeps running smoothly and you keep hitting deadlines.
I recommend cleaning your pallet arms and locking assemblies weekly. This should be enough to prevent you from having to do a deeper, more intense clean like you would need to do if your pallet arms begin binding. If your locking assembly has already begun to bind, that’s typically a good indicator that regular maintenance and cleaning are not being performed.
if the mechanism has already begun to bind, it may be necessary to do a deep clean, including spraying some type of penetrant into the slots on the pallet arm. work the product in.
For a good weekly cleaning, I suggest using some type of orange cleaner to help remove the lint and pallet adhesive that builds up over time. For this demonstration, I’m using sprayway 909 heavy duty degreaser, available at screenprinting.com. Not only does this product clean, but it leaves a protective film on the surface that provides a layer of protection against future build-up.
for a general cleaning, liberally spray
Spray your cleaner of choice on all surfaces of the pallet arm and locking assembly. Allow sufficient time for the cleaner to dwell on surface, this will break down the built up layer of lint and adhesive. Once broken down, this can be wiped off with a shop towel and a little bit of elbow grease. Be sure to get into the pallet arm as well. This hard to reach area needs to be carefully maintained in order to ensure proper functionality of the locking assembly.
If you’re watching this video and happen to find yourself with a bound locking mechanism, here are some things you can do to help restore normal functionality.
in this demo we’re discussing the pallet arm and the pallet locking mechnism.the locking mechanism secures the pallet to the arm by cotacting the extended portions of the pallet bracket.
