Do Americans such as myself have an "accent"? Let's talk about language, words and dialects, a topic that many Americans are misinformed on due to failures of the modern American education system and the tendency of Americans to see their speech patterns as "normal" or "default" but nothing could be further from the truth, since when it comes to dialects of the English language, there is no default.
