Making transport #NetZero for better health: Ian Mudway, MRC Centre for Environment and Health
In the run-up to COP26, we asked our researchers to tell us about their work and the challenges of tackling climate change.
Dr Ian Mudway from the MRC Centre for Environment and Health, based at the Imperial College in London, is focusing on reducing emissions from the transport sector to help achieve the net zero objectives.
Alongside this, Ian’s work looks at how reducing emissions also has a huge benefit on our health.
“Tackling emissions from the transport sector, not just shipping, not just aircraft, is absolutely essential towards us meeting our net zero objectives. This targeting comes with considerable healthcare benefits because we know that the emissions from the tailpipes of gasoline and diesel vehicles contribute to significant burden of ill health within the population” says Ian.
