Nick Offerman gets serious in new tech-focused FX series 'Devs'
(9 Jan 2020) NICK OFFERMAN: 'I DROPPED MY BEER' WHEN CALL CAME TO WORK ON 'DEVS' SERIES
Nick Offerman is getting serious.
The 49-year-old actor best known for his comedic role on the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation" leads "Ex Machina" filmmaker Alex Garland's new tech-focused drama series "Devs."
Offerman says he was surprised to get the call from Garland for the FX series, where he plays the head of a quantum computing company.
"I had such a great time on 'Parks and Recreation.' It was such a life-changing sort of chapter. So the last thing I wanted to do after that was try another half-hour comedy, because it would probably be disappointing after working with Mike Schur in that way," Offerman said in an interview at the Television Critics Association gathering in Pasadena, California on Thursday (9 JANUARY 2019).
"So I worked on some other things, hoping in the daylight something exciting would come along. And then I heard Alex wanted to meet me for this. And I think I dropped my beer. I was quite taken aback."
Sonoya Mizuno stars as a computer engineer in "Devs," which premieres on FX in March.
