Karmin five note sung sequence made visible on CymaScope
The CymaScope team have worked with Karmin, the pop duo comprising Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan who are enjoying growing success in many parts of the world with their unique brand of pop music. The title track of their 'Pulses' album video contains a five note sung sequence and a seven note sung sequence, made visible on the CymaScope. Both sequences show that it is possible for the complex, fast-moving vibrations in music to be transcribed to a visual analog, paving the way for MusicMadeVisible full length videos in the future. The technique also holds promise for the science of phonology and for profoundly deaf people. The five note sung sequence is shown here, part of which was used in the finished version of the Karmin Pulses video.
