Homestead Life Heavy Rain But Work Goes On

We had a very heavy rain storm but I still got a good amount of work done at our off grid homestead. In the morning we had a very powerful rain storm which drenched the land. This was badly needed because everything was dry and dead on the property. We have not had enough rain yet all this year. Later the rain let up some so I went out to work in the garden. It was still raining but I worked anyway. I got some more mulch spread on the garden rows. Then I spread some chicken compost in between the rows and around the plants as fertilizer. Last year this worked very well and the corn is now growing nicely on the row that was the most heavily treated in this way. I finished working on the chainsaw mill and got everything ready for cutting my own lumber. I have the chain fixed and sharpened. Now I got the bushings back in place and tightened up. It is ready to go. I have to get some wood hauled into the yard and start cutting. Out in the off grid wood shop I am using the natural forms, knots and wood grain on boards to make objects out of them. For example this fish I showed. It had the shape of a fish mouth with an eye so that is what I made it into. Melanie drew an outline for me and I cut it out in the wood shop. I used a router to smooth out the edges after I cut it. Then I roughly sanded it to bring out the wood grain and saw tooth patterns. This makes it look a bit like fish scales. The wood shop is fully powered by the sun using solar panels and a battery bank which is stored inside my off grid electronics lab. I also built a mobile table with a frame for my Elekslaser A3 laser engraver. This now keeps the laser engraver in place precisely while I burn images into wood. I was having trouble in the past keeping it all in place while burning. Just a bump on the table could through it off center on me and I had to recenter. While burning wood this could ruin the piece. Now I cam move it around while keeping the center and also keep it all together neatly. Thanks for watching. Please Subscribe & follow my daily videos.
