The most senior transgender officer in the Army has said there has recently been an increase in the number of transgender soldiers. Hannah Winterbourne, 28, who has served in Afghanistan, acts as a mentor for many of them. And she said Army colleagues had displayed a ''really positive'' attitude towards her own transition. ''They have seen it as something that allows me to be who I am,'' she said.
