UNPROTECTED: Western Hudson Bay and Its Beluga Estuaries

On the southwestern shores of Hudson Bay, the Seal, Churchill and Nelson river estuaries create some of the most biologically rich areas of the planet. Each summer, one-third of the world’s beluga whales return to these warm, shallow waters to molt and give birth. Oceans North is advocating for the creation of a National Marine Conservation Area in the region to monitor and manage this abundant habitat for present and future generations.
