Tchaikowsky-Liszt Polonaise (Eugene Onegin) - Setrak

Setrak, pianist of Turkish origin (born Istanbul 1931 - died Paris 2006) went to Paris in 1946 where he first studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique in the class of Alfred Cortot, then with Marguerite Long at the Conservatoire. He was winner of a First Prize in piano in the class of Yvonne Lefébure, as well as a First Prize in orchestral conducting in the class of Eugène Bigot. Setrak was a great virtuoso in the Liszt tradition. With a vast repertoire he was a collector of rare scores as well as a performer. He saved from obscurity Liszt’s Fantasy on themes from Lelio and recorded, amongst other works, Scriabin’s complete Etudes. Recording 1983. Bosendorfer piano
