All-New 2021 Kia Sorento // First Look

#NewKiaSorento #KiaSorento #NewSorento The Kia Sorento is Kia’s best-known nameplate and for 2021 the Kia Sorento gets some nice updates. First, the Sorento is available with two engine choices and six trims but all can be equipped with a 3rd row of seating for up to seven passengers. This new Sorento is lighter and stronger than the outgoing model even though the wheelbase is longer by 35mm or 1.37-inches. The overall weight savings is 3.1% and stiffness has been improved by 4%, which should make for a better handling Sorento. In fact Kia claims that this new model will have improved driving dynamics, better acceleration and reduced vibration, noise and harshness. Under the hood are two new engines, a base 2.5L GDI 4-cylinder with 191hp and 182lb-ft of torque, with the power going through an 8-speed automatic to a torque vectoring AWD system. The weight saving and the use of this new engine produces an almost 5% improvement in fuel economy. The biggest news is the introduction of a 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder, replacing the old V6 engine with 281hp and 311lb-ft of torque. This engine is married to an 8-speed wet, dual clutch transmission, the fist in this category to get this technology. The fuel savings are impressive this new turbo 4-cylinder achieves an almost 11% improvement in fuel economy compared to the old 3.3L V6. This new turbo is capable of towing 3500lbs. There is a new trim added to the market, called X-Line, featuring 20-inch dark grey wheels, higher ride height, unique roof rack and other details. This model is the entry trim to the 2.5L turbo engine lineup and comes standard with 2nd row captain’s chairs for the first time in Sorento. The exterior is a showcase for the new Tiger Face design featuring the new Eyeline design over the headlamps, creating a wide imposing front design. The Sorento comes with standard LED headlamps, plus LED taillights and wheels range from 17-20-inches, the largest ever for this product. Inside the design idea was Refined Boldness that features bright satin finishes, available textured open-pore wood inlays, and also quilted seats on select trims. The Sorento will be available with a 12.3-inc digital instrument cluster, plus an 8-inch or 10.25-inch display audio system, plus 8 USB ports. Standard safety features include forward collision warning and autonomous braking to name a few. The Sorento is due to arrive this fall; so expect to see it soon at dealers.
