Responsible Management of Environmental Quality: Workplace Toxicology, Viral Agents and Other (Part

Close Responsible Management of Environmental Quality: Workplace Toxicology, Viral Agents and Other Current Risks Presenters: Teresa Thomas Mirat D. Gurol, Ph.D. The new realities of international terrorism, new production processes, new technologies and the explosion of world trade has created a new challenge in education, business and government: an uncertain and fast deteriorating environment threatening our ecology, with growing toxic and hazardous elements surfacing within the workplace and in our communities. Our productive activity cannot totally shield itself from these threats, but it can be performed under a clear and firm strategy of responsible environmental quality management. This timely videoconference will review the essential elements of an environmental quality management system, the concept of ISO 14000, the growing toxicology issues of our twenty-first century workplace, including the consequences of bio-terrorism, particularly the impact of “Anthrax,” and the risk tolerance we must address to minimize the impact of this effort. The invited speakers will discuss the issues of prevention, cost of managerial involvement, and the requirements of education/training to develop a sustained and responsible environmental quality program at all levels of the organization and the community regardless of their size or sophistication.
