SEA URCHIN TAPAS TOUR IN BARCELONA: seafood tapas experience in Spain

Travel & food guide in Barcelona, Spain. Today is Sunday; we decided to go for a seafood tapas lunch near the beach in Barcelona. The tapas restaurant locates in a small alley; it opens from 13:00. We ordered several small bite tapas dishes there: raw sea urchin sashimi, queen clam with roasted corn as a topping, traditional Spanish ham with deep-fried tomato bread, and grilled seafood mix plate. The first tapas we had is fresh sea urchin. The orange colour of the sea urchin makes the dish looks so amazing. The taste of the sea urchin is similar to the crab cream. It is so rich and creamy; it just melted in your mouth within a second. You do not need to bite or chew, just wait till it disappears in your tongue. It is so fresh, and it definitely worth a try! The next dish we got is called queen clam with roasted corn. The clam is fresh and raw; it marinated in the strong vinegar sauce. The sauce well balanced the raw taste of the sea. The topping roasted corn gives the bite a rich oily nutty taste. Personally, I do not like the corn on top so much, it felt like you were chewing the shell of the clam. Before we got our final seafood mix plate, we ordered some more traditional Spanish ham with deep-fried tomato bread. If you go to Spain, you should definitely try this dish; the meat is so friendly to meat lovers. The taste of fattiness of the ham mixed with the crispy bread is truly beautiful and unforgettable! Finally, we got our grilled seafood mix plate. They have shrimps, mussels, clams, rock snails, crab legs; it is a real mix of the taste of the sea. In general, the seafood mix is really fresh and tasty, but we also found few fish parts which are not fresh anymore. Just a tip, when you go to a seafood restaurant in Barcelona, pay attention to your every bite.
