Growing Ginger in the Shade | Gardening with Trees!

Earlier this year in the spring we planted patch of ginger in our garden under pine trees. We bought ginger roots from the store and planted them in the ground. We decided to plant ginger because it is low maintenance and does really well in the partial shade! • 5 Steps to Planting Ginger✨ 1. Mark out growing area or consider planting in pots. 2. Prepare soil by clearing area of weeds and adding compost to the soil. 3. Plant ginger roots about 1 inch deep and cover with soil. 4. Add mulch in the form of leaves, wood chips, straw, etc. 5. Water soil. Check to make sure soil doesn’t dry out. • Ginger is planted in the spring and harvested in the fall. We harvest our ginger when the leaves turn yellow and they start the decompose.
