In-Booth Demo on the Lico LNT 42S-S4 11-Axis CNC Multi-Slide Screw Machine at PMTS 2019, featuring Greg Knight, Vice President of Sales – Production Turning Products, and Phillip Judt, Applications Engineer – Production Turning Products. This part is based on a P&R, or Piston and Rod combination, which is very common in the hydraulics and pneumatics industry, and is being made out of Ø1-5/8” 360 Brass. Using our “PARALLEL MACHINING CONCEPT,” we’re going to rough turn, finish turn, spot drill and drill through on the main spindle while simultaneously grooving. Our turret-mounted sub-spindle is going to move to the gang tool plate and then spot, drill, and rotary broach a 10mm hex. Finally the machine is going to eject the part, come back to the main, and probe this diameter to verify the size with our Marposs probe. With the Marposs probe, we can integrate the probe to do whatever a customer needs, whether checking size and re-turning/milling a feature or making an offset for the next part — we will find the solution for you! The final operations will be to use a CJ Winter axial roll thread for this 5/8-11 UNC and then reset the threading head, preparing it for the next part cycle. Finally you will see the part pulled to length using the turret mounted sub-spindle and cutting the part off.
