Melissa Walker of Jazz House Kids on closing the gap & the importance of giving back

Jazz vocalist and community organizer Melissa Walker, founder of Jazz House Kids (JHK), talks about the importance of closing the educational and socio-economic gap for young people in urban communities. Walker also reflects on the importance of community and how the parents of her students taught her the value of giving back. JHK is an organization founded in 2002 to use jazz as a means to help youth in the greater Newark area. JHK provides educational programs to children of all ages and backgrounds.
