Knee Osteoarthritis Exercise 7/8 : Half squat

1. Stand with your feet shoulder distance apart. Your hands can rest on the front of your thighs or reach in front of you. If needed, hold on to the back of a chair or wall for balance. 2. Keep your chest lifted and slowly lower your hips as if you are sitting down to a chair. 3. Plant your weight in your heels and hold the squat for a few seconds 4. Push through your heels and bring your body back up to standing. 5. Repeat 5- 10 times Tip: do not bend forward at your waist! Other exercises that are easy on the knees include biking, swimming, and water aerobics. Water exercise takes weight off painful joint and being active may also help you lose weight, which takes pressure off joints. For favorite activities, ask your doctor or physical therapist about how to modify painful moves.
