Schirin Chams-Diba dancing Gitana Fusion (Flamenco Arabic Persian) to 'Los Bilbilicos'

I had the utmost honor to perform with the Yuval Ron Ensemble at the Middle East Music and dance Camp Judeo-Arabic concert night. A huge thank you to Yuval Ron (Oud) for inviting my dance as part of the musical story telling. I am also grateful to Dan Cantrell (Accordion) , Dror Sinai (Cajon) and Jim Grippo (Quanoon). This dance was inspired by my travels to the gardens in the Alhambra and in Albaicyn in Granada: the many roses in bloom, the beautiful moorish ornamentation , the birds and insects, the water fountains. One of my fondest memories from my first journey there when I was 18 years old , are the Gitanas ( local gypsy women) with their long black hair and floral long skirt selling rosemary bouquets and offering to reveal my destiny through palmistry. I thankfully declined and one particular fiery woman spat right in front of my feet. I laughed with much delight because of the intensity of her ‘fuego’!
