We've been serving the King, Snohomish and Pierce counties for over 40 years. Today, we're going to be talking about sewer line cameras and sewer inspections. A sewer line is the waste line between your house outside to the city main. Sewer lines can potentially become plugged with certain factors such as ground movement, normal erosion, or potentially tree roots. To avoid these potential risks, it's a good idea to have your sewer line video inspected. I would do it when you buy and sell a home, I would do it after any back up, or I would do it as a preventative maintenance to ensure you don't have a sewer back up in your house. Today, we're going to be doing a video inspection from a floor clean out. This can be done from a wall clean out or from a pulled toilet. A sewer line camera works with a monitor and a camera line wheel that's fiber optic. There's a lens at the end so you hand feed the cable down through your sewer line to video inspect as you go. Ideally you'd like to get down to the sewer main to inspect for any offsets, broken pipes, tree roots or any other potential factors that can cause a back up. A sewer camera inspection typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes to feed the camera all the way down to the main and then back up once again. A common repair that we would uncover from doing the sewer inspection would be a spot repair to dig down and replace a section of pipe that has been compromised. To perform a sewer line camera inspection it's always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or registered side sewer contractor.
