LANE WALKER RUDKIN - GARMENT MANUFACTURER - CHRISTCHURCH - NEW ZEALAND - IN THE YEAR 1988. Lane Walker Rudkin was established in 1904, bringing together 3 earlier Canterbury family businesses. Making everything from underwear to outwear, and with popular brands like Canterbury, Swandri & Jockey under their umbrella, LWR made an appearance in most Kiwi closets. After more than 100 years in business,the company ceased trading in November 2009. Still in receivership when the February 2011 earthquake hit, the head office suffered severe damage and was marked for demolition. The receivers were given just two hours to retrieve material before the demolition started. 14 Oct 2013 ... THE director of Canterbury clothing manufacturer Lane Walker Rudkin Industries has admitted fraud charges arising from its failure in 2009. I Worked here for 14 & a ½ Years from 1981 to 1996 as a Knitting Machine Technician -- The main reason I worked here for so long was because it was 'Always' busy -- when it come to overtime we were simply told when 'Not' to come in which was very rare. My Primary responsibility's during this Time was Production Output & the Maintenance of varying types of Industrial Knitting Machines. Rugby Union / League Jerseys were the Big Business of the day. I still made more money here than any other business I ever worked For.
