Expanded Perfect Sphere | Tutorial | 3780 Neodymium Magnetic Balls

An enlargement of the classic Ultimate Sphere or Perfect Sphere neodymium magnetic ball shape, with improved sphericity over smaller versions (closeness in shape to a perfect sphere). The basic principle used here is systematically adding double hexagon rings of opposite polarity to the design of a smaller sphere of 80 double hexagon rings, that extend and slightly flatten the curvature, and therefore increase the diameter of the sphere. To make this work properly a modification of the pentagonal vertices was also required, which leaves small gaps that are filled in later with extra magnets. The final result is large and strong, and the most spherical looking sphere I have yet discovered from neodymium magnetic balls. Requirements: Double hexagon rings: 30 edges × 3 (90) + 20 faces × 7 (140) + 12 vertices × 5 (60) = 290 double rings total (290 × 6 × 2) = 3480 magnets. + 12 × 5 × 4 (240) gap filling magnets for the 12 vertices. + 12 rings of 5 (60) magnets for the vertex pentagons, = A grand total of 3780 magnetic balls.
