Emeritus Professor Will Happer - Climate, CH4, N2O and CO2¬ the good news for Agriculture

A Zoom presentation delivered onJune 23, 2021 Emeritus Professor Will Happer's pioneering analysis of the physics of global warming, where results from the high‐resolution transmission molecular absorption database (HITRAN) have determined the greenhouse effect over the entire spectrum of the infrared frequencies. The influences of various gases, specifically CO2, N2O and CH4 are identified. Clearly shown is that the influence of CO2 on warming diminishes after concentration goes beyond 400 ppm. Likewise there are minimal effects of further increasing levels of N2O and CH4. All results are based on rock‐solid physics, of key relevance to agriculture. He concludes that there is no climate emergency, and that modestly increasing CO2 levels will further boost crop yields to feed the planet’s growing population. Emeritus Professor Will Happer is Cyrus Fogg Brackett Emeritus Professor of Physics at Princeton University in New Jersey. He is a world leader in atomic, molecular and optical physics. From 1991 to 1993, he served as director of the US Department of Energy's Office of Science as part of the George H.W. Bush administration. In 2018‐2019, he joined the US National Security Council as advisor to the Trump Administration. Dr Happer is a co‐founder and board member of an advocacy group called the CO2 Coalition. He is a fellow of the US National Academy of Sciences as well as being a highly distinguished member of several other academies, and has received many awards and recognitions.
