System File Checker (SFC) | How to execute SFC command | Computer Tips

System file check is a utility built into the Operating System that will check for system file corruption. It scans the integrity of all protected operating system files and replaces incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions where possible. If your computer is running into problems such as frequent crashes, BSOD, freezing, or any kind of abnormal behavior then, you can run the system file check (sfc) command. If the issue is caused by a system file corruption then, sfc can resolve the issue. This video covers how to execute the system file check. The 4 different outputs that one can get after executing the sfc command are also covered. This video also covers the execution of the DISM command to fix sfc command execution failure. How to run DISM, using a custom image source, from a windows installation media, and running sfc from recovery media (if the system is not booting) is also covered. The process is simple. I hope the video provides enough guidance that one can try executing the system file check if they are facing issues with their system. The list of commands used are: 1. sfc /scannow 2. dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth 3. get-windowsimage -imagepath "E:\sources\install.esd" 4. dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:esd:e:\sources\install.esd:6 /limitaccess 5. sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows Thank you.
