🎓Graduating Dentists- I remember when I first graduated Dental School… I graduated at the BOTTOM THIRD of my class… Yes, I got a bunch of “Blue Letters” in the mail letting me know I failed an exam, or was just barely making it through D School. 😰 I definitely wasn’t the class star by any means…. I was headed back to California from Maryland, and the Dean called me in and asked if I was SURE I didn’t want to apply for a GPR or AEGD residency. I felt weird she was asking me that… 🤔I HALF confidently said- “No I’m fine, I’m just gonna start working when I get back to California.” I had nothing lined up, no job and no practice I was waiting to get into. I still had to take the California Boards(sorry- I said Bar in the video) I went back, got some patients for the boards…and things went my way and- I PASSED! 🎉 Then I went out with a fresh dental license in hand, looking for a job and ready to give it my all for that next big opportunity. Eager, optimistic new dentist ready to go for it (Don’t let anyone else tell YOU otherwise). I got hired at the first place I interviewed at- a Pedo office. I remember calling my Dad from the parking lot so excited that I got hired as one of their Dentists, I was so thrilled I couldn’t wait to start seeing patients! Fast forward… That job only lasted three months, one of my paychecks was $39- yes, for a two week period. Definitely NOT enough to pay back loans, or grab a decent Friday night dinner! 💰 Then I worked at 5 different offices and hated them all- no light handle covers, doing treatment I didn’t think was really necessary, and frustrated with how they ran their offices and treated their patients. FINALLY- months later… I got a break- a dentist hired me and saw something in me that he believed in. 🙏🏽 That first year with his office I got paid less than the hygienist, BUT I got the best dental education I could ask for- I learned how to RUN a practice, actually IMPACT patients, and GROW a business,. YES- all that in a year and some… I was a thirsty sponge. 🧠 Through this office I met 2 mentors that forever shaped my future as a Dentist. They both believed in me, in their own way, they both took a bet on ME! 3 years later I built my first office and then TWO MORE! Before I knew it, in four years, we had 3 locations and over 10,000 patients in south O.C. which mostly had some awesome things to say about us! 🎉 So after building three offices from scratch and selling 4(long story) I landed where I am today! Bottom Line… MENTORS- they changed my life, and my career! That’s WHY I made this video for you- I BELIEVE in YOU.
