As Warren Buffet says: an idiot with a plan will beat a genius without a plan. Just like we did in January, we set our goals regarding our net worth. Well, by the end of February, we want to have a plan for building our profitable stock portfolio. Our first step is to define “profitable”. Here’s some guidelines to help you make that decision. The S & P 500 had a rate of return last year of ~30%. So, if you invested $1000.00 in the S & P 500 index on January 2, 2019 and cashed out on December 31, 2019, you would have 1,300.00. That’s not always the case. The average annual return for the past 60 years of the index has been ~8%. So, think about those numbers. Pick a rate of return you’d consider profitable.
