Making Worker Thread in Android capable of intercepting messages

How to send message from UI to background thread in Android. A little not-so-important mistake done towards the end of the code. Instead of accessing the MainAcitivity's countdownlatch variable, i should have used the latch member variable of the WorkerThread class.
