Perilla leaf/ pickled Kkaennip preparation (recipe)
Ingredients: 32 perilla leaves
Sauce: 10 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp korean chili powder
1 clove garlic 1 green onion (I adjusted to 1 onion too "oniony" with 2)
1 green/1 red korean chile pepper
1 dash sesame oil 1 tbsp brown sugar. Finely chop the vegetables and mix together for the marinade. If you prefer less spicy use 1/2 green pepper only , for flavor. I prefer low sodium soy sauce. The leaves can be steamed for 20-25 minutes, or they can marinate as is, depending on preference. I would not go halfway though, because then the leaves seem half cooked and are too chewy . Either uncooked or fully steamed. Enjoy!
