Using render frames or flight time is not indicative of accurate measurements for distance due to the nature of variable speed. You can have more than one projectile travel the same distance at different speeds, yielding different results for frame timing. While frame timing could be used to ascertain travel speed you would need to know the maximum distance traveled, which cannot be gleamed if the arrow is colliding with anything such as a tree or detonating mid-air. This renders any testing available on console (unless using a modded console) invalid due to an inability to attain a true maximum range. In short, frame or flight time counting will only yield false positives.
