Hello, this is Abu Zobayer, and welcome to your Azure Daily Minute for Friday, April 21st, 2023. This week Azure Active Directory workload identity on Azure Kubernetes Service enter general availability. Workload Identity is an open-source project that enables Federated Identity in Kubernetes clusters. It is much simpler to use and replaces pod identity. Now our customers can run production workloads using Workload Identity on both Windows and Linux and migrate applications using Pod Identity over to Workload Identity. Just keep in mind that besides new workload identity, AKS will continue support POD identity through the end of 2023 and that will give plenty of time for our customers to transition to the new identity model. Also this week Azure Container Network Interface Overlay enter general availability. With these release now AKS clusters can be scaled to a very large size by assigning POD ip addresses from user defined Overlay which is logically different from VNet IP address used by the cluster nodes. This release also addresses performance, scalability, and IP exhaustion challenges while using traditional Azure CNI. That wraps up the Azure Daily Minute for Friday, April 21st, 2023.
