Fluorescent probe for bacteria detection-concept

In this project we developed a probe for the detection of glucosides-producing bacteria. Normally, the probe is not fluorescent ("off state") but in presence of bacteria producing the specific enzyme (glucosidase) a rapid increase of fluorescence can be measured ("on" state of the probe). This increase of fluorescence indicates the presence of specific bacteria in the sample tested.
