Hired later by the lord of the Owari Clan, Tokugawa Yoshinao, he transmitted the Ju-jutsu of Seigō Ryū within the clan. The seventh representative, master Nagaoka Fusahide from Seishū (other name for the ancient province of Ise), perfected Seigō Ryū Iai. He was a major disciple of the Owari Yagyū family, and served them as military advisor. The eighth representative master Nagaoka Fusashige, who was an expert of the Shinkage Ryū style, also mastered the ancient tradition of Seigō Ryū Battō. It was passed to him by the Yagyū family itself, by the eleventh master Yagyū Toshichika and the twelfth master Yagyū Toshinaga. In accordance with Shinkage Ryū’s principles, he remixed both schools together and founded the Yagyū Seigō Ryū Battō. The characteristics are identical to those of Shinkage Ryū.
