Bay Laurel Distillation for Hydrosol - 2011

Distillation of Bay Laurel (laurus nobilis) in April 2011 with Lise & Joya in Laguna Beach, California. We used 2 stills for comparison - an Alembic & a baby duck-bill. First time distillation. The leaves were soaked for 3 days prior to the distillation. Some of the flower buds bloomed underwater. It took 5 hours total & the Bay Hydrosol smelled sweet, herbaceous & a bit camporous. Success !!! ... AND THE PURPOSE of distilling Bay Laurel? The Hydrosol. Per Herbalist, Jeanne Rose, "The hydrosol has fantastic uses for the lymphatic system and for fibroids; It is used for breast cancer as a drink and an external application. For mumps, tonsillitis, strep throat and lymphatic problems or congestion, Bay Laurel hydrosol is very effective. Again, both as a drink for internal cleansing and as an external application; for throat infections as a gargle or throat spray. As a drink, use 1-2 T hydrosol per quart of water. Drink a quart a day for 10 days. It is very important to remember to start your treatment just as you notice the problem, and not wait until someone calls 911 because you can no longer swallow. So the hydrosol is used for the lymphatic system, Breast cancer and throat problems. You can also use the Bay Laurel hydrosol as a tonic drink to detoxify and cleanse the system when you have fibroids.
