Kenya Expedition: Exploring the Legacy of Wangari Maathai

*NOTE: This travel program was originally scheduled for 2020 but has been postponed to June 18 - July 1, 2022* Learn about our upcoming professional development program to Kenya to explore the legacy of 2004 Nobel Peace Laureate Dr. Wangari Maathai. Panelists: Special Guest Wanjira Mathai, Jennifer Seydel, Al Stenstrup, & Andrea Holbrook This travel program features opportunities to connect with Kenyan environmental leaders at the Green Belt Movement and the Wangari Maathai Foundation; service learning in the small African community of Ihithe, Wangari’s birthplace; and the chance to explore classroom connections with fellow educators. In addition to this intensive exchange, we will also have time “on safari” in two of East Africa’s great parks, the Maasai Mara and Nakuru, to see outstanding wildlife on the African plains.
