The Cape Town Flower Show and Leon Kluge visit the Drosera Ramentacea
Our Cape Floral Kingdom journey presented by Leon Kluge is kicked off with a visit to the Drosera Ramentacea.
Leon takes a drive out to Silvermine Reserve, just outside Cape Town, to get down and dirty with this rare carnivorous species which grows underneath fynbos, in moist, but not wet, sandy peat soil and is mostly found in shady areas.
This plant, part of the Droseraceae family, has tall branched spikes with flowers, a long taproot that goes up to 0.5m deep, lays semi dormant in the summer.
Location filmed: Silvermine reserve, Cape town
