Lord of the Dance - Ronan Hardiman - IWCB
IWCB plays Lord of the Dance by Ronan Hardiman (arr Johnnie Vision)
Irish composer Ronan Hardiman blends tradition and modernity in his electrifying score to Michael Flatley’s 1996 Irish dance spectacular, Lord of the Dance. In this arrangement by Johnnie Vinson, the whimsical opening features sustained chords that recall the droning of bagpipes, while the piccolo introduces the contemporary hymn, “Lord of the Dance” (a tune based on the older Shaker song “Simple Gifts”).
The music builds in fervour as it picks up tempo. With its infectious energy and driving beats, the composition invites the audience to join in the celebration of Irish music and dance!
