I messed up and almost burned my van down! How you wire your solar panels on your van matters. If you have a system larger than 400 watts, wiring your solar panels in parallel can be dangerous. Most consumer combiners have a limit of 30 amps, and wiring panels through a combiner box can be difficult in a van. I chose series wiring for my van's solar setup because it creates a safer wiring situation for me. It also uses a lot less wire, which means there is less clutter on the roof of my Ram Promaster. I would highly suggest wiring in series if your solar charge controller can handle the voltage. Let me know if you have any questions about wiring your solar setup.
