About Tangelo

The Tangelo is a hybrid between the tangerine and the grapefruit. Like the tangor, it was named for its tartness. Widely known as honeybells, tangelos are the size of an adult fist, have a tangerine taste, and are juicy at the expense of flesh. They generally have loose skin and are easier to peel than oranges, readily distinguished from them by a characteristic "nipple" at the stem. The fragrant, juicy flesh of the tangelo is sweeter and less acidic than that of the grapefruit and they are larger and more acidic than an orange. Depending on the variety, the flesh many contain only a few or many seeds.
