Pentas Plant care || Soil Preparation || Perrenial Plant
Pentas plants, also commonly called Egyptian star flower, are frost-tender perennials native to Yemen and east Africa. They grow 3 to 4 feet tall with an upright growth habit. Clusters of colorful, star-shaped flowers bloom from spring through fall in shades of white, red, pink, purple and lavender.
Pentas will last throughout the year. Pentas lanceolata, commonly known as penta or star flower, is a perennial flower that can grow into a 3 to 4 ft. shrub, lasting years in the garden.
Pentas Growing Instructions. Plant pentas in a sunny location that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of bright light a day. The plants will grow in almost any soil type, but prefer a well-drained soil that doesn't remain soggy after heavy rains. Pentas is a tender perennial so don't plant until all frost danger has passed ..
Besides sunlight, Pentas care requires plenty of water. When the soil begins to dry out, it's time to water. Put in an inch or two of water for every 2″ to 4″ inches of dry topsoil. Repeat the watering cycle when the soil begins to dry out.
