Soil Preparation - Family Plot

Haywood County Extension Director Walter Battle shows what he does to prepare his soil. He uses topsoil, cow manure, mushroom compost, vermiculite, and sand. He uses these things to help open up the pore spaces in the soil to make it easy for new plants to grow their root system. Walter also adds a little Epsom salt to add some magnesium to the soil. He then talks about other soil amendments for specific plants.
