Pearl Session Studio Classic Snare Drum Review by Sweetwater

In this video I'm playing the Pearl Session Studio Classic snare, a great-sounding snare that's a lot of fun to play. It's a 6.5" x 14" drum, 7.5mm thick and uses six plies of birch and kapur wood. Kapur wood is twice as dense as mahogany, so it has a very warm, fat sound. Combined with the birch, it's got a nice beefy tone with plenty of snap and crack. This snare sports Pearl's SuperHoop 2 hoops, a triple-flanged hoop that helps create great backbeat and sidestick sounds. The lugs look great and work well, and the throw-off is super smooth and easy to use. This is an all-around great snare drum that would be a great addition to almost any acoustic drum kit.
