Dr. Ram D. Sriram, "Explorations in Artificial Intelligence: A Personal Journey"

Ram D. Sriram is currently the chief of the Software and Systems Division, Information Technology Laboratory, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. In this presentation, Dr. Sriram reviews his long experience and explorations in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He recounts the history of the field from its emergence in the 1950s up to the sophisticated understanding of AI today. The talk covers ontologies and the semantic web, category theory, machine learning to deep learning, the symbiosis of neural networks and knowledge networks, quantum computers, explainable AI, and prospects for the “conscious machine”.
