How to play OLD Minecraft worlds in 1.17 Java Edition (21w07a - 21w14a)

In this video, I will show you how to upgrade your old 1.16 or lower Minecraft worlds to the 1.17 snapshots. Keep in mind that this change can cause corruption in your world. make sure to always have a backup when editing a world file. Like or die. :) READ BEFORE UPGRADING!!!!!!!!!!! On April 14, 2021, Mojang announced that 1.17 will be split into 2 parts, and with that, snapshots made after 21w14a no longer disable loading of worlds made in 1.16.5 or older. However, it disables worlds made between snapshots 21w07a - 21w14a. After testing out my version upgrading method, I have found that following my steps in the video for upgrading WORLDS MADE BETWEEN THESE SNAPSHOTS JUST OUTRIGHT GET RESET. BUT if you install the data pack Mojang has provided BEFORE loading the world after following my version upgrade method your world will not be reset. A link to download the data pack is listed below the NBT Explorer link. Although this method works, I found that when you close the world your location is not saved. Changes made to the world will be saved but your location upon opening the world will be reset back to the original place you logged out at before upgrading the world. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP. For full functionality to return to your world I suggest waiting until Mojang officially releases generation snapshots again.
