At 8:50 a.m. Vladimir Popov was the first to start from the shore of Marina Gaviota, Cabo San Antonio in Cuba, followed immediately by Evgeniy Evtushenko and Konstantin Aksenov. The average speed of the athletes at the kite crossing was 20.4 km/h. The wind speed at the start was 20 knots (37 km/h), the waves reached a height of 4-5 meters. The safety of the kite passage is ensured by the work of an experienced team on the escort boat and innovative technical equipment. Each participant is assigned a personal GPS tracker, with the help of which information about the location of a particular athlete is transmitted to the escort group via radio throughout the route. The athlete's aquapack also includes equipment for emergency calls to rescue services and a walkie-talkie. The kite crossing was recorded by three cameras, which were filming in continuous mode, and the entire route was recorded by seven GPS trackers.
