2023 Revolutionary Reads: Journey into Hanford: A Social-Cultural History of Plutonium Production

This presentation will explore working and living near the Hanford Nuclear Site and Tri-Cities Area from a social-cultural and racial perspective. Hanford, one of the three sites of the Manhattan Project, is primarily an industrial site of plutonium manufacture and refining, and this presentation will draw links to other histories of industrial production and well as what makes Hanford unique - its "nuclerarity". Robert Franklin is the assistant director and archivist of the Hanford History Project, the director of the Hanford Oral History Project, a certified archivist, a published author, and an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Washington State University, Tri-Cities.
