Picton Post Office

3D Laser Scan of Picton Post Office in NSW, Australia, using the Faro Focus S 70 portable lightweight scanner. The scan was compiled using almost one million points of light per second. 3D laser scans are highly accurate and used to verify construction or restoration work against a Revit model. Also known as point cloud scanning, 3D laser scans can be set up on site within minutes. They can be used for Construction Building Information Modelling (BIM), spatial mapping, facility management, and manufacturing. The benefits include fast, efficient and accurate recording of existing spaces and services, and immediate processing and task distribution with wireless scan data. The Picton Post Office was built in 1892. It suffered from a massive storm during 2016 and underwent flood damage. Wollondilly Council committed to repairing and restoring the iconic building, which required subfloor drying work, repairs to building cracks, floor timber replacement and new floor coverings. Drawable conducted the 3d scan of Picton Post Office in order to verify work done against the Revit model.
