Volkswagen plans to launch the production-spec version of the retro ID.Buzz concept for the 2024 model year. Therefore, a late 2023 debut is likely. An official name has yet to be announced. And yes, this is an all-electric van inspired by the iconic Type 2 Bus. Like all of VW's upcoming EVs, this new van will ride on the MEB platform. A cargo van version with panels instead of side windows is also in the works, though it'll be aimed mostly at small businesses. Testing is currently happening and we're told the EV van will have a total range of 300 miles. More than one battery size will be available, as will all-wheel drive. Roof-mounted solar panels will be another option and they'll be capable of providing enough power for an extra few miles of range. Thanks to a floor-mounted battery pack, there'll be ample interior volume for passengers and cargo alike.
