Words of medic at Aleppo's Castello crossing for civilians to escape terrorist-held region (2016)

Nov 4 afternoon at the Castello road humanitarian corridor crossing. In the two hours I was there, not a single civilian or terrorist crossed, unsurprisingly. Earlier, at the Bustan al-Qasr crossing, by a 9:30 arrival and until an hour later upon leaving, no one had been able to cross, no sign anyone attempting to do so. Soldiers said what is known: that the terrorists within terrorist-occupied areas of Aleppo prevent civilians from leaving, using them as human shields. There were 10 ambulances present, including 5 from a private medical organization which had been asked to be present at the crossing today, in the event that residents managed to leave terrorist-occupied areas and needed emergency care. There were also 14 minivans and 3 large buses ready to carry away both civilians and terrorists, depending on whether either wanted to go to government secured areas (under amnesty in which the terrorists would lay down their arms), or be given safe passage to Idlib. For those who don't immediately get the ramifications of today or like prior days, in brief: the Syrian government and military are doing what they can to enable safe passage of civilians away from areas occupied by terrorists; the Syrian government is ready to reconcile Syrian militants into society; the terrorists occupying areas of Aleppo have proven they have no desire for peace and no qualms about shooting at civilians within their areas, starving them, using them as human shields, and targeting the corridors along which they would be offered safe passage; I can't think of many governments, certainly not my own, which would tolerate terrorists holding large swaths of civilians hostage and at the same time firing all sorts of mortars, Grad missiles, and other explosives at civilian populations, schools, hospitals, infrastructure.... While doing an interview with al-Ikhbariya, I mentioned the mortar that had fallen around 1:30 pm. Just after I said that, a second mortar hit much closer, both apparently fired from Dahiyat Abed Rabbo where Nusra and other terrorists were, just one km away. The second mortar struck an estimated 50 metres away. I later learned that another 5 shells hit that Castello crossing area, one of which injured the al-Ikhbariya cameraman. https://ingaza.wordpress.com/syria/syria-my-published-articles-from-and-on-syria-2014-2022/
